Named for a great collector of vocal music and historical recorded sound, the John R. Stratton Visitor in Music brings distinguished specialists in the field of voice, opera, and collaborative piano to the Faculty of Music. We are grateful to Stephen Clarke, trustee of the Stratton Estate for his generous support of the Faculty of Music.

Canadian pianist, conductor and educator Carrie-Ann Matheson is Artistic Director of the San Francisco Opera Center and Merola Opera Program. Previous engagments include long tenures at the Metropolitan Opera and Opernhaus Zürich where she was as assistant conductor, prompter, pianist and vocal coach.

As recital pianist, she regularly collaborates with leading opera singers, including Piotr Beczała, Benjamin Bernheim, Diana Damrau, Joyce DiDonato, Jonas Kaufmann and Rolando Villazón. “Douce France’, her debut CD with Bernheim was recently released by Deutsche Grammophon

In addition to her musical work, she is an ICF certified leadership coach, specializing in working with artists who are striving to achieve their full potential.
