The Faculty of Music is a fertile ground for academic discourse and offers numerous opportunities for the exchange of ideas through lectures, presentations, forums, and other events. Our various colloquia and roundtables bring together performers, composers and researchers to share knowledge and insights covering a wide array of topics within and related to the study music.
Music Research Festival 2026
The Music Research Festival (MuRF) is an annual week-long series of free events in celebration of music research at the University of Toronto presented by the Faculty of Music's Research & Partnerships Office. This year's Festival is organized in collaboration with the Music Library and the Music Technology & Digital Media program. The festival showcases the innovative research-creation work of faculty, staff, post-doctoral fellows, graduate and undergraduate students at the Faculty of Music.
Undergraduate and Graduate students share their research through the Faculty of Music Library's Research Showcase poster sessions and events; while faculty, staff, and postdoctoral fellows participate in lectures, workshops, panel discussions and roundtables throughout the week.
MuRF'26 events include:
- Monday, Feb 23 @ 3-5pm - Faculty Research Showcase (hybrid event)
- Tuesday, Feb 24 @ 3-5pm - Careers in the Academy Panel (hybrid event)
- Wednesday, Feb 25 @ 12-1 - FOMRS - Graduate Poster Presentations
- Thursday, Feb 26 @ 12-1 - FOMRS - Undergraduate Poster Presentations
- Friday, Feb 27 @ 7:00-9:00 - 10th Anniversary Celebration of the FoM Music Technology & Digital Media Program (MTDM) and Electronic Music Studio showcase

Graduate Student Research Workshop Series
The Graduate Student Research Workshop Series, presented by the Faculty of Music Research & Partnerships Office, provides student-centred workshops and information sessions designed to support the research and creative activities of graduate students in music. Graduate students in music must register in advance to participate in sessions of this series. Register for sessions through the Student Research SharePoint (note: valid UTORid required).
