The University of Toronto Faculty of Music presents “A Celebration of Black History Through Music” featuring the University of Toronto Faculty of Music Gospel Choir.

Led by founding director and JUNO Award-winning music educator, Dr. Darren Hamilton, the U of T Faculty of Music Gospel Choir was featured in three CBC Radio documentaries that aired throughout 2024 and performed at the 2024 Toronto Jazz Festival.

Special guests include JUNO Award-winning gospel artist, Sharon Riley, and the U of T West African Drumming and Dance Ensemble, directed by Kwasi Dunyo.

This concert features the world premiere of an original gospel composition by Professor Darren Hamilton and award-winning Canadian composer, Aaron Manswell. The Canadian premiere of an arrangement of “Lift Every Voice and Sing” by Professor Brandon Felder (Bowie State University) will also be featured.
