Kolby Zinger-Harris
Biography
Kolby Zinger-Harris is a PhD candidate in musicology at the University of Toronto, where he is also completing a collaborative specialization in sexual diversity studies. Kolby’s research, which is supported by a SSHRC Doctoral Fellowship, is focused on the roles of musical production, cultural policy, and branding in mediating queer subjectivity. Broadly, his research addresses both popular and Western classical music within the context of neoliberal governance and considers how music and its creators may reinforce or disrupt political and economic norms. Kolby previously earned an MA in musicology (2021) and a BMus in composition (2018), both at U of T.
