What to expect

The Master of Music in Music Technology & Digital Media is a two-year course-intensive degree that focuses on applying digital and other technologies to music creation and performance. Students work individually and in teams to realize professionally viable projects requiring proficiency in a range of technologies, including sound recording, editing, synthesis, and digital composition.

They have access to a state-of-the-art, inter-operable Electroacoustic Music Studio that supports prototyping and testing, digital media production, industry-standard hybrid analog/digital recording, and advanced teaching.

Core Courses

The core of the program consists of courses on creative applications of technology, sound recording, entrepreneurship, and digital media distribution (the equivalent of three full-year courses). In the second year, students complete a capstone major project. They create a work recorded, mixed, produced, and mastered in at least two media (the equivalent of one full-year course).

Electives

Electives (the equivalent of three full-year courses) are chosen from an approved list of digital media courses, music courses, or non-music courses offered by other graduate units.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a portfolio demonstrating at least two of three competencies. It must show skills in music performance or composition, knowledge of music computer applications, and/or experience as a composer, sound engineer, or producer of a released musical work.
